It has been quite some time since I was able to register my own .com domain name.  At the time (about 5 year’s ago) my .com was available.  I figured I could wait and get it whenever I felt like it, but it turned out that it was registered at one time and I had to place a back-order on it.  I was finally successful and after taking a few business classes it dawned on me that having your own name in your domain name is quite important.

If you are currently looking for your name / last name .com and it is not available.   The next best thing is to try and see if your “first, middle, last name” is available.  Register this while you can and wait on the other.  It’s worth a shot.
